You are on page 1of 1

The masthead is bright and in bold yellow writing.

The masthead juxtaposes from the background as the background is made up of dark colours. It is bold so we as an audience dont get mixed up with the text and masthead. Kerrang is in bigger writing as its at centre focus; it is in white so it goes very well with the background which is black. This week is also in bold writing as the editor wanted to audience to be focused on this weeks issues. Kerrang has a brand identity, the masthead is always white. The layout it quite fun and different, it is not like a formal contents page which is sectioned to look perfect and symmetrical. This contents page is quite quirky and very asymmetrical. The headings are in yellow and highlighted in black. Yellow, black and white is the main colour scheme of this page. The typography is black, some of the writing is bold, and this could be to highlight the main points.

Competitions are at the bottom of the page to make the readers feel more involved and give the readers another purpose to buy the magazine. It is in red so the readers are more aware as red connotes urgency and emergencies.

The issue number and cover date is an institutional convention of a magazine.

There are small images on the page; I think the editor wants the reader to keep interest. The images are of Kerrangs next issues and pictures of the editor. The shots of people are mid shots I think they chose to do this shot so we can see their faces and as a reader recognize them for future preference.

The models used are appropriate for the target demographic; the models look quite Emo and gothic as we can see their clearly visible tattoos and rock influenced clothing.
