Dear MAAC members,We started a new year already pumped up with adrenaline in our veins.MAAC activities and competitions are already on schedule and the response isfantastic. The club membership is exceeding our expectations and this is a positivesign that what we are doing is attracting more and more air gun enthusiasts to ourclub. MAAC now also have a dedicated airsoft section, lead by a team of dedicatedpeople working with one aim and one wave length. Some may argue that competitions are becoming more difficult. The answer is yesthey are, and that is a good sign. However I would like to remind each an everyshooter that we take part to improve our skill and the main scope is to have fun, andimprove our skill, not just to win. . This year MAAC shooters will be taking part in the1
st
World Air Rifle Benchrest Postal competition which will be hosted by South Africa. This will be our 1
st
experience as an Airgun BR team, in preparation for the ERABSF European Championships that will betaking place in Pilzen Czech Republic in 2010.The more members participating in our competitions the more classes can provided for more level playing field. Anobservation I made to the Airgun Sports Commission for 2009, is a commitment to focus on international rules and get in lineas much as possible. In 2010 we will then start to focus and give importance to the proper power levels shot internationally.Still we will never exclude any rifle power (max 35ftlbs) from our local competitions, but we need to start to understand that ifwe want to compete internationally, we must stick to the international rules, at least those who have this wish to competeabroad. This also means that we need to give priority to 12ftlbs categories. This is not an easy task, it needs a change in thementality, but as long as our intentions are to compete abroad in the coming years, we MUST take this stepOn Saturday 28
th
February 2009 MAAC will hold its 1
st
Annual General Meeting. Here the current Central AdministrativeCommittee will present you with the club status and achievements obtained so far. During the AGM you will have the right tovote for the Central Administrative Committee members, Sports Commission Members and the Airsoft Administration group. With your vote the committee will be given the mandate to lead MAAC for 2009 and 2010. These will be two years in whichMAAC needs to continue to build upon the already strong foundations built during the last six months.
