Requests directed to Johnny Johnson, DDS and the Pinellas County Dental Association:

1. Dr. Johnny Johnson has stated Sound, credible, peer reviewed, published studies have shown over and over again that water fluoridation provides both topical and systemic benefits. According to the ADA and the CDC, fluorides actions are only topical. Additionally, the CDC has stated that ingested fluoride does not significantly increase ductal saliva fluoride levels. Please provide the journal articles that identify a systemic benefit of fluoride. 2. In his comments to Commissioners on November 27, Dr. Johnson said moderate and severe fluorosis were not an issue. Reports from the CDC indicate that fluorosis rates of all types are rising. The CDC reports objectionable fluorosis in children attributable to water fluoridation. The ADA concurs. Neither the CDC nor the ADA called for a halt of continued fluoride exposure via water fluoridation when 14% of the 12 to 14 year olds in Augusta, Georgia were found to have moderate-to-severe fluorosis. What amount of objectionable fluorosis is acceptable? 3. Presently there is active fluorosis litigation and there is a solicitation of fluorosis victims for a mass tort action. Is the Pinellas County Dental Association prepared to state that Fluorosis is not an issue that Pinellas County needs to be concerned about? 4. Blacks are found to be doubly susceptible to the toxic effects of fluorides. Rev. William Owens, President of the Coalition of African American Pastors, wants to know why this important fluoride information wasn't shared with African American leaders and citizens. Why hasnt this information been presented to the people of Pinellas County? 5. Three of the speakers at the November 27, Commissioners meeting related their experiences with fluoride sensitivity as it relates to fluoridated water. Dental and medical literature have addressed this issue and people have documented their experiences. Will the Pinellas County Dental Association warn the public of the symptoms of fluoride sensitivity? 6. Major fluoridated U.S. cities are experiencing escalating dental crises. How or where is the claimed 20 to 40% reduction of dental decay demonstrated in these cities? 7. The paper Request for Truthfulness and Full Disclosure in Annual Water Quality Reports contains a paragraph titled Infant Fluoride Intake. It explains the ramifications of using fluoridated water to reconstitute powdered infant formula. Is the Pinellas County Dental Association prepared to state that No infant will be harmed when fluoridated water is used to reconstitute powdered infant formula?
