special memories will be made to last a lifetime.

In case you havent heard or read about it our School Performance Grade is a B. We are very close to that A! We are pleased to announce that Northshore High School scored an A! We know all the hard work starts at the elementary school! This score is the result of all the hard work done by the students, staff and parents at all the feeder schools. Congratulations to all!! The halfway point of the school year is approaching. Its time for a mid-year check up on your childs attendance. One of the most important things you can do as a parent is to get your child to school on time every day. Remember our day begins at 8:20 am with morning meeting. Our morning meeting is considered a part of our curriculum. We make announcements, talk about the Principals Principles, have golden ticket drawings, present character awards, have school performances, and every meeting is concluded with a live weather report and the pledge. During this holiday season, it is sometimes hard to get kids to school on time. But building a habit of regular attendance is important for your child todayand in the future. We send our warmest wishes for a peaceful and safe holiday. Enjoy this time with your precious child. Remember our doors are always open. School will reopen on January 3, 2012. Lisa and Arlene

Jan 31st King Cake Day

I hope everyone had a wonderful time enjoying friends and loved ones during the Thanksgiving holiday! Just think Christmas break is just around the corner, and Cypress Cove is a really busy town this time of year. Listed below are a few things that is on the PTAs to do list. The PTA has scheduled the staff dessert party for Tuesday, December 11th. On this day, we ask that if you would like to donate a dessert for the party, please drop it off at the office before 10:00am. Our hospitality committee will be sending home more information soon. Please check your childs folder. I thank you in advance for your participation and your expression of kindness towards our wonderful staff. The dessert party has become a tradition that the staff looks forward to every year. Also, if you would like to share the recipe for your dessert, please feel free to attach it to your dessert. The staff would love it. Our next big event is the annual Cypress Cove 2K Fun Run/Walk. This will be the 5th year that PTA has held this fun-filled family event. It will be held Saturday, March 9, 2012 from 9am 11am with sign-ins beginning at 8am. Mark your calendars and bring out the whole family to join us for all the activities. We are in the planning stages of the 2K Fun Run. Therefore, if you are interested in working on the planning committee please see me after the PTA meeting on December 11th. We will discuss the date for our first preliminary meeting and assign jobs and responsibilities for the run. We need you in order for this project to be successful. Thank you in advance for your service. Our goal is to not only support our school, but to take advantage of another opportunity to create another one of those memorable moments for our students. If you have not become a PTA member yet, please sign up for membership. Our goal is to reach 576, but we are only half way there. Please feel free to make use of the form attached to the back of the newsletter. By the way our friends from Live Oak assisted living came to visit CCE. The youngest resident that visited was 82 years old and the oldest resident was 102 years old. Some of the residents read to our children and others had the first graders read to them. They had a spectacular time and the children and teachers really enjoyed the time spent with our seniors. Our Parish President, Pat Brister, was a guest reader in November. She read to Mrs. Crawford and Mrs. Zeldens class. Also, our first district BESE member, Mr. James Garvey, read to Mrs. Drouant and Mrs. Letuelle class. Mrs. Brister and Mr. Garvey, thank you for sharing your time with our students at CCE. Lastly, we will also have very special guest readers in the month of December. Its a secret, but the students at CCE will love them. Your next PTA meeting will be Tuesday, December 11th at 10am in room 701. Everyone is WELCOME, please join us! On behalf of the Cypress Cove PTA board, I would like to wish everyone a joyous and safe holiday season! See you in the New Year!! Exciting News From Our Superintendent

The St. Tammany Parish Public School System recently received a letter grade of A in the latest District Performance Scores released by the Louisiana Department of Education. This is a great accomplishment by any school district and especially one as large as ours with 55 schools and almost 38,000 students. I would like to thank our parents and caregivers for their assistance in this achievement. We know that parental involvement in our schools has a direct impact on education. Our St. Tammany community values public education, and through the PTA our parents are full partners in the education of their children. Each and every one of our students, their families, teachers and school employees should be congratulated for this score. With the leadership of our School Board, School Administrators and Central Office staff, we were able to see great gains this year. I am very proud of the efforts within our School System. We still have work to do, and we are always looking at ways to improve each of our schools. We recently have added new avenues of communication for our School System. We invite you to like us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/stppschools, follow us on Twitter at www.twitter.com/stppschools, view School System videos on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/user/channel13sttammany and browse our internet photo pages for each school by clicking the School Photos Online link on the District homepage.
