She hoped to be a writer some day, too. Finally, it was Teresas turn. She gave her book to Mrs. Bernier-Grand for her to sign. Although she felt scared, she breathed in and asked, Maam, did you always know you would be an author? Mrs. Bernier-Grand smiled. When I was growing up, I had no clue I was going to be a writer. Do you have some advice for children who want to be writers? You have a story to tell, the author replied. If youre passionate about it, TELL IT! Do so with all your heart. Teresa smiled. Julio looked down at the map of Puerto Rico again. He had to write about an interesting place that he would like to visit. His mind was blank. He could not think of one place. And he had lived in Puerto Rico his whole life! Just then Julio saw something new. It was a star next to a river called the Ro Camuy. He looked closer. It was near Arecibo and Aguadilla. When he got home from school, he talked to his mom and sister about it. They didnt know much, so he looked it up on his computer. To his surprise, the Ro Camuy was one of the worlds biggest underground rivers. It flowed underground through more than 200 caves. Some of the caves were huge, while others were too small to reach. Only nine miles of it had been explored so far. Julio smiled. He knew exactly what he was going to write about now.
