The expression on a childs face as they watch the curtain rise on a Childrens Theatre Company production is simply magical. Because of your support this past season, we were able to give that gift over and over again to thousands of families. Today we celebrate YOU, as we wouldnt be able to educate, challenge and inspire thousands of families each season without you by our side. We would like to take this opportunity to give you a few examples of how your gift supported our work and our patrons this past season. Thank you for trusting us to be good stewards of your donation.
On Stage
Throughout our 45th anniversary season, CTC held 423 performances on our stages (300 public performances and 123 student matinee performances). Because of the six amazing productions performed on our stages this past season, we saw our audience grow 28% from the previous season. This growth helped us reach our ticket goal for the first time in 11 years! Annie was a clear audience favorite this season with 97 shows during its two month run. Annie quickly earned a spot in the CTC record books as our second most popular show, right behind Dr. Seuss How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

2010 -2011 Season Highlights In The Community
neighborhood bridges
Neighborhood Bridges, CTCs nationally recognized critical literacy program, was able to expand into three additional classrooms this year. This expansion allowed us to work with 625 students from 25 classrooms throughout the school year. The goal of the Neighborhood Bridges program is to close the achievement gap for low-income and limited English language students in the Twin Cities. A study conducted by CTC and CAREI at the University of Minnesota found that creativity and play enhances critical literacy. For these at-risk students, many of them English language learners, learning to speak out and collaborate on group projects were the crucial steps they needed to take to flourish socially and academically.
eArly bridges
In 2010-11, CTC continued our Early Bridges program, an innovative theater program for children ages three and four. This year, 132 children from six early childhood education centers serving low-income and at-risk populations participated. In each weekly one-hour Early Bridges session, children were led in theater arts curriculum designed to boost development in crucial social, physical, and cognitive domains that helped prepare these children for kindergarten.
CommuniTy suPerheros
In 2010-2011, CTC launched Community Superheroes, a project that emphasized partnerships with organizations serving Latinos. Over 600 families received free tickets and transportation to two CTC productions. Visitors participated in preperformance bilingual tours and post-play reflection discussions.
Theater Education
CTCs Theatre Arts Training program saw significant growth during the 2010 2011 school year. More than 2,450 students participated in 180 classes in storytelling, acting, dance, voice, directing, and playwriting. Over 100 of those students were able to participate because of CTC scholarship opportunities.
From all of us at CTC, thank YOU for another great season. Well see you in the fall!
