The Kandi Won: What happened

Dave Gerr, director of Westlawn Institute of Marine Technology in Maine, analyzed the 1984 Silvertons design and stability and what happened on July 4, 2012. Gerrs analysis determined the boat could have carried no more than 15 or 16 people safely. Here are some of his findings:

Center of gravity

loaded that its center of gravity was raised so much that it took a slight force, such as a wave, boat wakes, the boat leaning as it turned or too many people on one side, to capsize it.

1 The boat was so over-

the flying bridge for the accident to occur because of the weight of the passengers. 3 If all the passengers had moved to one side, the boat would have capsized even if it wasnt moving.
