About Workshop:

With the galloping industrial and population growth, the need for energy usage is increasing consistently in an exponential manner. In view of lack of resources, it is becoming increasingly difficult to cater for such a high demand. A large amount of oil is also spent in meeting these needs. It creates a big hole in our foreign exchange reserves and results in large fiscal deficit with the accompanying interest to be paid. The runaway situation cannot be allowed to continue. The most economic answer is saving in energy per unit of production notwithstanding the present and future desired output. One unit of energy conserved is equivalent to at least two units at point of generation and from three to four at raw material stage. Nonrenewable energy resources are being fast depleted. Renewable energy is quite costly and diminishes the capacity for competition in a global market. It is thus incumbent to maximize the efficiency of existing power and energy management systems. The two days workshop will provide a platform for industrial experts, researchers, faculty members, students and other users, to learn about the emerging trends in optimal use of energy. The workshop will present actual savings accrued as a consequence of case studies in industrial and academic environment.
