Vyapar - a Mock IPO Event

It is a mock IPO event in which investors will bid for mock shares in presenting companies. These presenting companies are the 10 competing teams. Each of them will be associated with a start-up. They have to act as an Investment banker, study the business and present it to our audience which act as high net worth individual investors. The investors then decide to back the venture of their choice and invest in different ventures based on the elevator pitch and detailed business plan presented by presenting companies. The team with the highest market capitalization and most importantly the investors walk away with attractive prizes for having the best portfolios. So there is a chance for every investor to win the best portfolio award and this makes the event all the more exciting. Eligibility: All PG and UG students pursuing a regular full-time graduation ,postgraduation or post-diploma course in management, engineering technology and science disciplines. Round 1: General business quiz General Business quiz will be conducted on Day One of Cognizance to screen the people. The top 10 will be selected as investment banker. A brief summary about the start-up will be given to the top 10 scorers and subsequent 5 scorers (waitlisted). After detailed study of the allotted start-ups, the participants have to submit a company brochure (pdf format 2 page) which enlists company details, future growth prospects and all those information which is required to lure the investor. The brochures (print outs) would be made available to the investors during trading. Round 2: Mock IPO and Virtual Trade Acting like an investment banker the contestant has to convince the HNI investors (audience) to invest more in his firm. He can use whatever way he wants (its a cruel

world :-) along with a power point presentation to be presented in front of investors (audience) and Juries. IPOs of each start-up will be launched. Investors will be facilitated to buy shares. Another trading session among investors will also be done. The company with highest market capitalization will be termed as winner. And investor with best portfolio will be best investor. You must register yourself with the Cognizance website by 15th February 2013. 2. Send a doc file to doms.iitr.cognizance13@gmail.com with the subject Vyapar latest by 15th February 2013.The doc file should contain a brief information about your entry, names of team members, institution of team members, their Cognizance ids and contact details (email id and phone number). 3. Each team should have a maximum of two members. 4. Results for Round 1 will be declared on that day itself in DOMS. 5.
