As a resident I'm sort of used to the politicians and civic leaders not having a clue nor concern about their constituents concerns on such matters, but I find it offensive that she'd make this claim not just for herself but for all Troy residents. I am not a fan of the structure nor method of adopting this SAFE act as handled by Cuomo. ~Sean Lynn Kopka just made a career ending mistake. ~Eduardo Yep, the background check requirement conducted by the state police on skeet shooters and duck hunters on every single purchase of a box of shotgun ammunition is really going to deter crime in New York. Deer hunters, youre also included, as well as all gun clubs. By the way, mail order is a no, no, all purchases must be face to face, that is if anyone will still be selling ammunition in New York come 2014! ~Joe Sorry Lynn but you aren't speaking for me in that letter and I am a resident of Troy. ~Spoony1 When did Lynn Kopka become the supreme leader of Troy? I did NOT vote for her or her cronies and I certainly did not give her my okay to speak for me. I whole heartedly stand against the SAFE act. This "act" is another ploy for re-election by the idiots who think that guns are the problem, not the actual people. Her letter should be revoked and she should go back to running her little park and newsletter. What a perfect example of abuse of power. I promise to campaign for anyone who runs against her and her band of cronies, especially if she sends this letter. ~StoveTop53 I tend to vote my conscience, in a bipartisan, thoughtful, and educated manner. Lynn Kopka did not and will not ever get my vote and I urge everyone to consider steering your votes in another direction. Any politician that supports the perversion of the Constitution is insane to say the least. This is a reckless representation of our citizens and does absolutely nothing to advance our stability as a city. It flies in the face of all voters that one unbalanced individual such as Lynn Kopka communicates with such reckless disregard for law abiding citizens. Vote her out and elect someone that speaks for us, not themselves. ~Opinionated This is a joke right? Misprint? Rogue story? Just thinking out loud? No one has the right to speak on my behalf unless I say its ok to do so. Sorry I voted for you. ~Nina You certainly don't speak for me... how dare you! ~Patrick Lynn Why? Has your elected post changed you so much? I did not think so. The council is a legislative component of city government not our supreme leaders. The governor acted in haste to promote his own political interests, how can you send a letter encouraging this behavior? The city concerns should be addressed before politics. ~Debra Thanks for writing the Gov Lynn. But sorry, many here who pay taxes don't feel the same. What's next, Rodney writing to Bloomberg in support of a ban on 32.oz soda's? Speak for yourself in the future Lynn. ~STboy I'm guessing there's going to be a bit of backlash from this. I heard there is a City Council meeting tonight, if anyone has the info, please post it up, and those in the area, please show up to make your voice heard. If you don't stand up now, you're letting this lady speak for you. ~Gordon She does not now nor will she again speak for me. ~Deborah On behalf of the residents of the City of Troy, we write to express support for you and the state Legislature for enacting the New York Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement (NY SAFE) Act, the letter to Cuomo reads. It is our collective belief that you and the Legislature have shown sound leadership in helping to enact the strongest measures to curb gun violence of any state. And whom delegated authority to you to speak on behalf of all Troy residents? I recommend a letter to the Governor amending and correcting your statement to reflect you speak for YOURSELF and not for the City of Troy residents. The letter should be published so we the

people know it was done. We do not want to have a letter writing campaign to him alerting him of your most audacious, pompous erroneous statements. A quote to you Ms Kopka credited to Mr. Abraham Lincoln: Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt. ~m2plaid Who the heck does Lynn Kopka think she is? I did not vote for her and I will not support her or her idiotic ideas about MY freedoms. The gall of her to write an open letter to the Governor about support for the SAFE act in the name of all of Troy citizens is assinine. Please do all of the law abiding citizens of Troy a huge favor and resign your post and go back to running your little park and newsletter. You have done nothing for the progress of Troy except to promote composting and spay/nueter of stray cats. What are you the next Bob Barker? You are nothing but a little stick stirring up a giant pot of garbage for a couple of votes. What a complete and utter idiot you must be to think this will pass the smell test. It smells as bad as the compost you promote. ~Matt Supporters of the SAFE act are eclipsed and dwarfed by the NY counties, cities, towns and associations which are against it. Below is the steadily growing list of New York State counties, towns and law enforcement agencies who have passed or are passing resolutions against Cuomo's SAFE ACT: Counties Allegany County, Broome County, Cattaraugus County, Cayuga County, Chautauqua County, Chemung County, Chenango County, Clinton County, Columbia County, Cortland County, Delaware County, Dutchess County, Erie County, Essex County, Franklin County, Fulton County, Genesee County, Greene County, Hamilton County, Herkimer County, Jefferson County, Lewis County, Livingston County, Madison County, Monroe County, Montgomery County, Niagara County, Oneida County, Onondaga County, Ontario County, Orange County, Orleans County, Oswego County, Otsego County, Putnam County, Rensselaer County, Rockland County, Saint Lawrence County, Saratoga County, Schoharie County, Schuyler County, Seneca County, Steuben County, Sullivan County, Tioga County, Ulster County, Warren County, Washington County, Wayne County, Wyoming County, Yates County Towns: City of Ogdensburg, Town of Argyle, Town of Cambridge, Town of Chester, Town of Clarendon, Town of Colden, Town of Conesus, Town of Deerpark, Town of Elbridge, Town of Grand Island, Town of Harrisburg, Town of Hoosick, Town of Indian Lake, Town of Jackson, Town of Libson, Town of Linclaen, Town of Marathon, Town of Neversink, Town of Palmyra, Town of Riga, Town of Saratoga, Town of Sempronius, Town of Shandaken, Town of Stafford, Town of Thompson, Town of Truxton, Town of Union Vale, Town of Walworth, Town of Warwick, Town of Wawarsing Law Enforcement Albany Sheriff Craig Apple, Dutchess County Deputy Sheriffs PBA, Erie County Sheriff's Police Benevolent Association, Greene County Sheriff, New York State Sheriffs' Association, Saratoga County Sheriff's Association, Schuyler County Sheriff, Steuben County Deputy Sheriff's Association Other New York State Association of County Clerks, Association of Erie County Governments, NY Association of Counties, NYS Conference of Local Mental Hygiene Directors, Washington County Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs ~Michael Who do you think you are, Lynn, that you can speak for me. I will be voting against you at every opportunity. The SAFE Act is ineffective, takes away my rights as a citizen, and empowers criminals. Even if the Act was justified, WHY WOULD YOU CONDONE THE SNEAKY WAY IT WAS IRRESPONSIBLY RUSHED THROUGH TO PASS! Unbelievable. ~MrsThinker What's more, Cuomo enacted that legislation swiftly and outside of normal procedures just so that he could claim to have something on the books before the President and/or Legislative branch did anything, much as he's done with his push for the increased minimum wage. Cuomo is all about gaining political gravitas so he can run for higher office, and while I do not know Ms. Kopka's intentions, it would seem outwardly to be more concerned with her personal beliefs and/or political desires than anything the city voted on. I cannot make the meeting ont is this evening, but if you can, please go voice your opinions and let them know you don't wish to be spoken for without being asked your input. ~Sean

The voters have to remember to dump her come election day, another politician that is clueless, and doesn't want to stand up for our rights. ~fourstar1 She does NOT represent me, because she never received a vote from me! I have lived here in Troy for 50yrs and I'm sick and tired of Troy politics! Hope she gets voted out next time ~Sean Another socialist overstepping the authority granted to them by the people~ Its not about what the politicians want its about what the voters want! ~Doug The views indicated in this letter are certainly not the views of this citizen of Troy!!! Councilwoman Kopka I would love to hear how you came to this consensus! ~Uncle_Sam_of_Troy
