Mr. Smitherman,

I recently heard from Chris Johnson -- who writes for the Cincinnati
Beacon -- after he called your radio show this weekend. I was also
provided with an audio clip. I heard his question regarding the Joe
Deters issue, and your response about not having decided if you will
send him a public request for clarification.

With the current media landscape -- including things like the NY Post
dead monkey cartoon, and the official who resigned after sending the
watermelon patch photo -- I think the time is right for pushing this
story along.

Therefore, please advise by tomorrow if you plan to send a request to

Mr. Deters. If not, or if I don't hear from you, I will go ahead and
work to advance the story through other means.
