    Dear Colleagues:

    This is to inform you of my decision to relinquish my role as Chancellor, effective March 31,
    2009. I intend to remain on the Board as the Regent from the 8th Judicial District. As we all
    know, there are many issues that warrant our collective attention and resolution.

    I am very grateful to all of you for your confidence and support. It has been a unique and
    tremendous honor to serve as Chancellor.

    I look forward to continuing to serve with all of you as we face the challenges ahead.
