Usually when we think of God's transformation,we think of a powerful salvation experience or anincredible testimony of someone leaving drugsand alcohol to follow Christ. However, Jorge'sstory is different. When he was 18 months old, asevere case of meningitis almost took his life.Fortunately, he lived, but he lost his ability tohear and for almost eleven years he lived insilence.That is, until last week. This intelligent,handsome boy who comes from a very poorhome, got his first hearing aid. But, it has beenan amazing, winding ride to get to this point. Itold a quick version on our website, but nowhere's the rest of the story.It's awesome how God uses many people to blessand touch one life. I met Jorge five years ago. Iwas able to visit his rural home and see how heand his family were struggling financially. He wasenrolled in Children of Promise. I felt like Godwould help him hear, but I didn't have theresources or the contacts to make it happen. Godtook care of that. Two years later, a work campfrom First Church of God in St. Joe, Michigancame to build a new church building where Jorgeand his family worshiped. After meeting Jorge, askilled contractor on the team mentioned that hehad build the office for an audiologist in town onan earlier trip. Hmm, good to know

Then, lastyear another family from the same churchdecided they wanted to bless Paraguayanchildren. So instead of receiving gifts for his 40thbirthday, the father asked friends to give toChildren of Promise.

We received over $1,000! Since Jorge had neverreceived a diagnosis in his infancy, we used thespecial donation money to get him tested inEncarnacion, an hour away. We made four differenttrips and after much anxiety, disappointment andimmense joy (you can read all of that on our website)we were told that Jorge would benefit from a hearingaid!With this new hope, the Lord reminded me about ourcontractor friend's comment regarding theaudiologist. Our friend gladly got in touch with thedoctor.
 
She immediately agreed to donate thehearing aid, valued at over $1,100! Three weeks laterI received the hearing aid in the mail. My heart sunkwhen I received it as the box was completely open.Our mail had been open on three previous occasionsand every time whatever was sent to us had beenstolen. Unbelievable it was still there. God hadprotected it!Because God's people have come together fromdifferent places, with different gifts, adding differentpieces to the puzzle, Jorge today can hear. When hereceived his "new ears". It brought tears to my eyesand all I could do was thank God!
