Your Face Is Your Fortune

Like it or not, your physical appearance plays a vital role in your life. The way you look, dress, talk and walk (among others) basically determine who you are and how people react with you in this world. You are constantly sending out messages to those around you - even when you're saying nothing. And everyone will be judging you by how you look, for better or for worse. You're also probably aware that attractive people seem to get more attention and have things done their way and more often. It isn't fair, but that's how things are. You'll therefore want to make yourself look as attractive as possible to help you achieve better results. While this is a good first step there are other techniques that, when combined with a more attractive you, will make you more effective at influencing your prospects for you to get what you want from them.

Organ Of Emotion Now the first thing your prospects look at, when they're looking at you, is usually your face. Your face is the "organ of emotion". Your prospects constantly read your facial expressions to see and feel what you are feeling, or thinking. They do this subconsciously. Your physical being the you - is represented by your facial features. In particular, your eyes reveal important truths about you, even those you would prefer to conceal. Therefore, your face is perhaps the most powerful "channel" of non-verbal communication there is. And once you know this, you can "encode" messages in your own facial expressions for others to read for you to influence them. Once you know the secrets behind a face, you can also " decode" the faces of the people around you. And since they probably don't know what you know, you'll get their true messages, which can be useful to you. The face provides vital clues to an impressive variety of possibilities: attraction, whether a person likes or dislikes us, his emotions, identity, age, type of personality and more. To be able to influence your prospects better, you need to pay attention to the following 3 things: 1. The 2 main types of faces and the positive and negative messages they send to your prospects without your knowledge 2. How to style your hair to balance out the type of face you have to enhance your image for your prospects 3. The 5 different types of smiles and when to use each one to significantly increase your success in influencing your prospects Let's dive in.

THE 2 MAIN TYPES OF FACES

The concept of yin and yang is used to describe how seemingly opposite or contrary forces are interconnected and interdependent in the natural world. Day and night, male and female, good and bad, and heaven and hell are some examples of the yin and yang concept. One cannot exist without the other and we need both yin and yang forces to create a balanced and harmonious life.

Your face is either a yin face, or a yang face. It's easy to know what face you have. Simply look in the mirror and see if it has any of the characteristics shown below. While you will probably find characteristics of both types reflected within your features however, you'll be able to see the dominant type.

THE YANG FACE

Imagine that you have a line running down the middle of your face from your forehead to your chin. In a yang face, the features of the face are concentrated around this line. Eyes - close together, deep set, and narrow Eyebrows - slanted toward the bridge of the nose Nose - small, possibly flat Cheekbones - strong and pronounced Lower jaw - large and square Mouth - rather small, the lips are thin and the lines on the face appear to be more vertical than horizontal. This type originated under harsh conditions like those that are found in extreme places on Earth, extreme climates, and very cold, mountainous regions.

People with strong, prominent facial features are said to have a yang face. High cheekbones, a prominent jaw and an angular face shape are some of the characteristics of a yang face. Generally, people with yang faces do not look friendly or approachable because their prominent look gives out a sense of confidence and authority to those around them. They generally have a commanding air to their nature and have no problems in getting people to obey and follow them. Famous celebrities with yang faces are David Beckham, Angelina Jolie, Dwayne Johnson, Victoria Beckham, Andy Lau, Michelle Yeoh, Christopher Lee and Gong Li. Can you think of other examples?

THE YIN FACE

Imagine that you have a line running down the middle of your face from your forehead to your chin. In a yin face, the facial features diverge from the middle line. There may be a cleft running down the middle of the face which produces two distinct lobes in the forehead, a cleft at the tip of the nose, parted front teeth, and a cleft chin. Eyes - wide, set far apart, and may even protrude Eyebrows - slant away from the centre of the face.

Nose - long, or large, and it also protrudes Cheekbones - are slight Lower jaw - slanted from the chin upwards to the ears. Mouth - large and the lips are full and the lines on the face appear to be more horizontal than vertical This type originated under mild conditions such as those which are found in tropical latitudes, temperate climates, and oceanic areas.

People with soft facial features have a yin face. A small face, low cheekbones and not so prominent jaw usually belong to people with yin faces. They look friendly and approachable but most of the time, because of these soft facial features of theirs, it makes them look less confident and less intimidating. They are generally more sociable and are easy to talk to. Famous celebrities with yin faces are Zac Efron, Kiera Knightly, Justin Bieber, Kate Middleton, Stephen Chow, Fann Wong, KK Chong and Zhang Ziyi. Can you name other celebrities who have yin faces?

YIN AND YANG FACE MISCONCEPTIONS

There is the misconception that people with yin faces are better looking than yang faces. This is not true. Although people with yin faces tend to look gentler and approachable as compared to those masculine, fierce-looking yang faces, both yin and yang faces look beautiful in their own unique way. So what type of face do you have? Yin, or yang? Once you know, you'll be able to enhance your face by turning your negatives into positives instantly. The following 2 simple techniques show you how.

1. PUMP UP THE VOLUME

Take a good look at your face - and tell us what feature affects the way you look the most. Your hair of course. To illustrate see the lion below with its big mane? It looks strong and powerful.

Now, imagine the same lion after it's had a haircut:

It would instantly lose its strong and powerful appeal and somehow looks less intimidating. (Just in case you're wondering, we didn't really cut a real lion's hair. The one you're seeing now is a lioness. But you get the point.) As such, to look powerful, elegant or even to give the impression that youre wealthy, your hair must have lots of volume.

Now look at the socialites, royalty and celebrities. Notice their hairstyles. You'll see a similar hair pattern the infamous hair bump and big hairstyles with lots of volume.

Socialites, royalty and celebrities exude power and authority. They simply love attention and they get it by pumping up their (hair) volume. This will also increase and show off their high-ranking status in society. Having lots of hair volume also empowers those who have soft facial features, giving them a stronger, more confident look. Now what if you want to look more friendly and approachable? Easy. You'll just do the opposite. Instead of having big, voluminous hair, opt for the subtle, simple and sleek hairstyle. The hair should look neat and most importantly, clean and healthy. Simple hair buns, ponytails, and French knots are the basics in getting this look.

This look largely benefits those with strong, prominent facial features as it will soften your look and make you look more presentable and less intimidating. 2. THE REAL MESSAGE BEHIND A SMILE

The smile is the most powerful feature of your face that you can use to increase the chances of getting what you want. You can use it to instantly brighten up your look, start a conversation and to make your prospects feel comfortable with you. Now a smile can be real, or fake. Most of us can detect a fake smile, so you'll want to ensure you know how to put on a real smile so that your prospects don't think you're putting on a show for them. A fake smile uses a different set of muscles than a real smile. Since a real smile is involuntary and a fake one is deliberate, different portions of the brain control the muscles used for each. When a person genuinely smiles, their cheeks rise and the skin around the eyes creases. A genuine smile is known as a Duchenne smile, named after the French neurologist Guillaume Duchenne who discovered the distinction between the muscles used in fake and real smiles in the 19th century. One of the best ways to spot a fake smile is to look at the end of the eyebrows, which dip slightly when a smile is real. Also, in a real smile, the fold of skin between the eyebrow and the eyelid moves downward. Fake smiles are less likely to be symmetrical than a real smile. A genuine smile can last for up to five seconds, while a fake smile can last much longer. Though a fake smile can be very convincing and can even cause the eyes to scrunch up a little bit, many people can distinguish a genuine Duchenne smile from a faked one with a bit of practice.. There are several types of smiles for different moods, intentions and occasions.

THE 5 TYPES OF SMILES

1. The Tight-Lipped Smile

People who use this type of smile usually have a smile stretched tightly across the face to form a straight line and the teeth are concealed. This means that that person has secret that he/she will not be sharing with you. Women use this type of smile to hide the fact that she actually does not like someone. But only another woman can read this sign of rejection clearly, while most men are oblivious to it. This smile can be seen in photos of celebrities or successful businessmen on magazine covers. The wearer of the smile is sending a message of how successful he is, without revealing how the got there. 2. The Twisted Smile

This smile shows opposite emotions on each side of the face. One side of the lip moves upwards while the other moves down. It is used mainly in the Western world and is a deliberate smile. It's used to send a message of sarcasm.

3. The Drop-Jaw Smile

The drop-jaw smile is used to show that the person wearing it is laughing or playful. Their mouths open widely in delight, displaying their teeth. This is a favourite of people such as The Joker, Bill Clinton and Hugh Grant. They're using it to show an expression of happiness to their audience, or to win approval. 4. The Sideways-Looking-Up Smile

It is one of the smiles that Princess Diana used to captivate our hearts. This smile makes men want to protect her, and women want to be like her. This type of smile is part of women's courtship repertoire which is used to attract men. Men read it as a seductive and a powerful come on signal. Prince William also uses this type of smile not only to win his subjects' hearts, but also to remind them of his late mother.

5. The Sincere Smile

The sincere smile is also known as the Duchenne smile. Weve talked about this above. It's the best smile you can make and your prospects will share your happiness as well. You need to use it moderately though, as too much of it during the times when it's not expected will lessen its impact. :-)
