1. What skills have you developed through this module and how effectively do you think you have applied them? During the Final Major Project Ive learnt a huge amount. Ive definitely improved in my ability to present, both in terms of presentation boards and written presentation, as well as verbal presentation. I have found my presentation is a lot more concise and is more relevant. I have been able to present information in a more logical and engaging manor and I think this important, especially in terms of pitching, which is something Ive had experience of during the module. Alongside this I think Ive developed a lot in communication and my ability to work in collaboration. Collaboration is something I see as being quite important to my practice, as I definitely work better with constant feedback and dialogue about the work Im producing. Being able to collaborate and communicate ideas effectively has been essential during this module and I think Ive definitely improved in this area. Collaboration has formed a fairly substantial part of my Final Major Project and I think Ive applied my skills of communication effectively throughout. Finally I think Ive developed a lot more confidence in my own work and have been able to use this to my advantage with regards to studio contact. Sending my work to various studios came back with some really positive results and I think from this Ive improved in my ability to speak with professionals because of the amount of contact Ive had and the positive responses Ive received.

2. What approaches to/methods of design production have you developed and how have they informed your design development process? Working with a lot of image heavy material Ive developed hugely in layout and use of images within my design. A number of briefs Ive been working on, such as the prospectus, Sound Bites and Ben Harris brief have imagery as a focal point. Being able to work with this image rich content more effectively has definitely improved my practice and has had beneficial effects on my other work such as my portfolio. Professional printing methods and stock choice have also become much more of a consideration within my work as visiting printers and speaking with professionals has given me a much more informed perspective and will continue to do so. My presentation of information has also improved and overall this means that my work communicates more effectively, which is absolutely essential. I think with this module, unlike previous modules, I attempted to answer briefs and develop concepts that were as simple as possible. This meant that my work was much clearer and is much easier to understand. I often found previously that I would spend too much time developing concepts, which in the end were complicated or tenuous. So working much more simply in this module has really improved my ability to communicate.

3. What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these? I think one of the strengths within my work has always been use of type, and especially within this module I chose and answered briefs in a way that would allow me to work typographically. This is a strength that is relevant to all areas of design and I think it has really improved my work throughout the module. I will continue to work typographically and endeavour to improve as I think being able to work with type really effectively is something that is very desirable in a designer and will greatly improve the chance of being employed. Throughout my Final Major Project I have also worked a lot with development of identity, and I think I have improved massively in this area, I would say that it is now one of my strengths. I think being able to develop relevant and engaging identities has been one of the main elements for me in this module and Id like to think I have succeeded in my attempts to do so.

4. What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these in the future? My main weakness throughout this module has been maintaining motivation and working consistently. I feel that my work rate slows without pressure and I need to set myself regular deadlines in order to make myself produce work more quickly. Having print slots for example was quite a good method of keeping me working consistently as it meant I was working towards something that would be wasted if I were to not produce any work for. Keeping on track with blogging consistently has also suffered because of not pushing myself to work at a consistent rate. I feel I also need to experiment somewhat with format and methods of delivery in my work. I tend to lean towards print for the majority of my briefs and although this has meant that the printed work I am producing is much better than in previous modules. It also meant that I web deliverables were often not considered until later and suffered because of it. Putting more of a focus on a complete range should help me to develop this side of my practice.

6.How would you grade yourself on the following areas: (please indicate using an x) 5= excellent, 4 = very good, 3 = good, 2 = average, 1 = poor 1 Attendance Punctuality Motivation Commitment Quantity of work produced Quality of work produced Contribution to the group 2 3 4 5 x x

The evaluation of your work is an important part of the assessment criteria and represents a percentage of the overall grade. It is essential that you give yourself enough time to complete your written evaluation fully and with appropriate depth and level of self-reflection. If you have any questions relating to the self evaluation process speak to a member of staff as soon as possible.
