Camper at Harrison Lake is unaccounted for Agassiz, B.C.

; On Sunday June 9th Agassiz RCMP received a complaint of shots fired on the West Harrison Forestry Service Road, Harrison Lake. At approximately 5:30 p,m. three Lower Mainland residents were camping approximately 50 kilometers up the Forestry service Road when shots were heard. RCMP officers attended the scene and during the course of their investigation located a camp site that was unoccupied. It was learned that the occupant of the camp site was a 65-year-old Vancouver resident, Raymond Salmen. An immediate search of the camp site did not locate Mr. Salmen, and he is currently unaccounted for. Police have no information that connects Mr. Salmen to the shots fired complaint. This area in question is accessible, but remote. On Monday, June 10th RCMP Air One and the Agassiz-Harrison Search and Rescue were deployed to search the west side of Harrison Lake in a effort to locate Mr. Salmen. The search is continuing using all available resources. "We are concerned for Mr. Salmen's safety" advises Cpl. vanNieuwenhuizen. "This is a wilderness area with no formal campsites. This area is frequented by campers and we are hoping that someone may have seen Mr. Salmen. We believe that he has been at this camp site since May 28th."
