PERFORMING ARTS Wednesday 3 July 2013 On Air. The program consists of four works, all of which are choreographed by Simon Hoy. On Air, is a pure dance work inspired by our fundamental human interdependence with music by Claude Debussy. Focussed on Aspects of Light, is based on a poem by Faye Jones, Separation, with music by Dmitri Shostakovich. Submerged mirrors the endless possibilities of our lives and scope for development. It is never too late to try and create a better tomorrow. Music by Samuel Barber. Motion Transcend is a classical ballet about picture, line, and silhouette, an emphasis on grace within each gesture and intricacies of each linking moment. Music by Frederic Chopin. Cost on entry. Running time: 75 minutes, no interval. This event is part of the Glenelg Shire Council's Arts Program. To be held at the Portland Arts Centre at 7:30pm. For further information contact Lynda ph: 5522 2263, email lcooper@glenelg.vic.gov.au or web: www.glenelg.vic.gov.au Saturday 6 July 2013 Delectable Shelter Delectable Shelter is a riotous, no-holds-barred portrait of western society, facing the end of the world as they know it. In a bunker deep under the Earth's surface, the last five humans are left after ``the end of the world''. Their job is to ensure the human race survives for the 350 years it takes before it is safe to return to the surface. As these five very different individuals plan their utopian society they introduce a hilarious breeding program. Their daftness contrasts with the darkness of the underground; all culminating in a purely hilarious gospel choir belting out 80s love ballads. The performances are excellent The Age. Originally produced by The Hayloft Project and Theatre Works. Cost on entry. Approximately 90 minutes, no interval. Warning: Performance contains coarse language, adult themes, sexual references, smoking & 80s music. This event is part of the Glenelg Shire Council Arts Program. To be held at the Portland Arts Centre on Saturday, 6 July 2013 at 7:30pm. For further information contact Lynda ph: 5522 2263, email lcooper@glenelg.vic.gov.au or web: www.glenelg.vic.gov.au For further information on Performing Arts contact Lynda, ph: 5522 2263, email: lcooper@glenelg.vic.gov.au or web: www.arts.glenelg.vic.gov.au
