2 Reconnection after Storm Damage to Customer Owned Electrical Service In both Hamilton and St. Catharines, individual customers with property damage to their own service connections will still experience outages. All customers with overhead (versus underground) wires from the street should check the stack where the electric service connects to the house. If it is damaged, the customer must have a licensed electrician repair the stack before Horizon can restore power. Customers should refer to display advertisements in the Hamilton Spectator and St. Catharines Standard for more details on this matter. Public Safety Still a Concern Our primary concern is public safety as power service is returned to customers. Customers and the public are encouraged to notify Horizon of any remaining downed power lines and to stay back 15 metres from these lines. If you see downed power lines, or trees or branches resting on lines, please stay away from the wires. Do not touch or try to remove them. Call Horizon at the number below immediately. Horizon Utilities crews and outside contractors are working around the clock to remove the trees from the lines safely, and then repair the damage so they can restore power as quickly as possible. Please visit our website for more outage information at: http://www.horizonutilities.com/myHome/Pages/power-outages.aspx or http://ow.ly/i8bsN.
