START-UP OF LOSS IN WEIGHT TYPE SCHENCK UNIT

1 PURPOSE:
 To start LOSS IN WEIGHT type SCHENCK unit (IPA SCHENCK ) after tripping / maintenance as
per process requirement
2 SCOPE:
 Electrical & Instrument (YES)

3 PRE-REQUISITE
 Start-up procedure
4 PROCEDURE:
 For starting the IPA SCHENCK, no need of a specific work permit, however a cold / critical work
permit must be generated for maintenance on SCHENCK unit
 Whenever the IPA SCHENCK trips on any fault or took offline for maintenance, follow the steps
given below to restart it
 Reset the inverter and note down fault in case of SCHENCK trip
 Ensure that the instrument air valve of XV is open in the field
 Make sure that STOP command from DCS by process should be given, before starting the
SCHENCK system, in case of SCHENCK trip
 Ask process personnel to start SCHENCK system from DCS and verify that the motor is running in
field
 Now if the XV does not open automatically, then either put some weight (approx >5 Kg) on
SCHENCK assembly (Green Color) in field OR press the MENU button of IPA INTECONT
(Panel IP-07 within control room), and scroll down until "FILLING START" appears in the display
then press ENTER button to open the IPA XV
 Verify the opening of XV from field
 Now press the escape button to skip from MENU
 Note down the current from inverter
 Make an entry of the said job in the technician log book
