Dear Students and Parents, I will be using Skill Based Grading (SBG) for Assignment Quizzes.

Assignment Quizzes are given to check student understanding of material. When grading with SBG, instead of getting one overall grade based on right/wrong for a quiz on a unit section, students will be scored on specific skills such as, Product of Powers property. I believe it will be more accurate to giving students feedback on what items they have mastered and what skills still need work. New grades showing additional learning will replace old grades. This means grades will reflect the trend in most recent learning. You may re-attempt assessments provided that you have documented an effort to engage in additional learning (e.g., tutoring, additional practice, test corrections, etc.). The deadline for reassessments is April 30, 2013. You may reassess no sooner than 1 day after engaging in additional learning. One reassessment per day is allowed, up to 10 reassessments per semester. Reassessment days & times: T-Th, 7:30-7:40 & 3:00-3:15. Students must schedule by 9:00pm the night before at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B094BACAE29A13sbgreassessments For each skill, students will be scored using the following scale: 100 = Advanced. I understand the content/skills completely. I understand the fundamental things about the content/skills. Indicators include: Generally demonstrate the skill accurately Make minor errors occasionally when applying skill in complex situations Make minor errors occasionally when integrating skill in problem solving Make minor errors occasionally when synthesizing skill in multi-step problems Miss some details 75 = Developing. I have a general understanding of the content/skills, but Im also confused about some important parts. Indicators include: Occasionally demonstrate the skill accurately Make errors when applying skill in complex situations Make errors when integrating skill in problem solving Make errors when synthesizing skill in multi-step problems Miss many details 50 = Beginning.
