IVY V. SALUPEN CABADING

MODERN HAIKU 1

Alone in the vast expanse staring at the lovely face of the lowly marapait.

MODERN HAIKU 2

Dreary weather elevates the feeling of loneliness and fear.

LIMERICK
There was a man who is so vain
Thinks he is Gods gift to women

In reality
He is so ugly

So better run fast if you can.

EPIGRAM(EPITAPH)
Here lies a beautiful woman Faithful wife and devoted mom To the world she gave her best Now in heaven let her rest.

ELEGY
Our existence and experience are dependent on the passing of time, and on change. No, not dependent -dependent is too weak a word. Time and change are part of who we are, the foundation of our consciousness.

Inherent in change is loss

Woven in every thing that give life meaning: reading, music, conversation, children.

The passing of time is loss in a moment

no episode will ever be the same again. Only death is certain.

ODE
ODE TO FRUITS AND CHOCOLATES Naturally sweet, red and juicy pomegranate blended into a dark chocolate ganache.

Creamy Greek strawbery combined with roasted walnuts

dipped in dark chocolate, rolled in a blend of nuts & spice. Fresh apples cooked to perfect pies and combined with

caramel

and roasted pecans.

Pears with hint of spice blended with fudge and walnuts, White chocolate blended with preserved black raspberries

and a hint of cognac

A smooth, lush blend of both semisweet and bittersweet dark chocolate Truffles, bonbons, couverture or Gianduja Flavours and textures hand dipped to perfection Brings delight to suit everyones sweet tooth.

PARODY
ORIGINAL VERSION
Demeters Prayer To Hades (Rita Dove) This alone is what I wish for you: knowledge.

To understand each desire and its edge,

To know we are responsible for the lives we change. No faith comes without cost, No one believes without dying.

Now for the first time I see clearly the trail you planted,

What ground opened to waste,

Though you dreamed a wealth Of flowers. There are no curses, only mirrors Held up to the souls of gods and mortals. And so I give up this fate, too. Believe in yourself,

Go ahead see where it gets you.

MY VERSION This alone is what I wish for you: garbage.

To block and clog your every drainage,

so you know you are responsible for the lives you enrage. Youre a wraith who likes to boast,

You dont believe in segregating.

Now for the first time I see clearly the folktale you boasted

What you are is a disgrace, As though you esteemed stealth And cankers. There are no excuses, for dumpers Of recyclables: plastic, paper and bottle . And this is a tall feat, I know. Believe in yourself, Dont segregate garbage will come get you.
