Of course, financial structure translates into manufacturing, jobs, investors, local or global resources (labors, materials, capital, knowledge, etc.). However, one needs to follow what goes in the actual

process of surplus production in these giant corporations and small businesses to appreciate these financial structures within societies. Yet, I believe we can step back and examine multiple viewpoints and layers involved in discussing financial structures within societies. (1) Applying the integral approach to understand financial structures within societies, one can start from his or her definition of value and the value scheme one believes in that impacts ones conduct and sought state of existence. This perspective is based on the view that the world exists through your perception of it. If you value society more than capital, then you are a promoter of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). If you are a humanity-based activist, you define society in global terms not local, otherwise you are a nationalist. (2) However, values are not just personal, you and I live in multi-layered connected and networked societies. How do we view our own financial culture and how we see it fit within other financial cultures? We know we have an emerging Islamic financial system in the global picture; we know we have a robust integral socio-economic financial equilibrium based on faith and rewards; we know that we dont need a CSR department to practice social equity; yet we are not too sure of our financial culture, because the global capitalist culture is very overwhelming, our collective knowledge is weak and our values system is confused. (3) The financial structures within societies can be examined objectively. Historically, the world changed from primitive to slavery to feudalism (land duty) to capitalism as a result of surplus and the industrial age. Today, the Worlds societies are transforming and we are witnessing this process. We are, in fact, contributing to this transformation, through the current revolutionary knowledge-based wealth. Movements, revolutions, such as the Arab Springs, Occupy Wall Street, Anti-Capitalism, etc. are pushing the Worlds network societies to move to Post-Capitalism. Talks and actions already began to prepare the ground for After Capitalism, to bring Humans and Nature back to sustainable financial structure within societies. (4) The final perspective on sustainable financial structure within societies is based on understanding the inner working systems of all multi-layers involved in the financial process. Local man-made Jeddah flood disaster of 2009 due to corruption and global man-made financial disaster of 2008 due to greed proved to us that a lack of humanistic value system can bring about disasters affecting both Humans and Nature. Without a clear definition of individual values and collective values system, the World will continue to drift astray. A defined values system governing socio-economic system, not as an add-on CSR but in an integrated social practice, is what can minimize capitalists exploitation of human and natural resources and increase people equity and environmental sustainability. Perceiving the current financial structure within our society (local or global) from multiple viewpoints, one at a time, will allow us to focus on critical issues to bring more awareness and with it possible change. Transformation is destiny.
