SP Recreation, Culture, and Parks Advisory Committee 2009 Work Plan
RECOMMENDATION(S):
That Council endorse the 2009 Work Plan of the Recreation, Culture, and Parks Advisory
Committee.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Council Advisory Committee Establishment Bylaw 2009 No. 4700 requires that every year, prior
to the end of February, the Advisory Committee shall present to Council their proposed and
prioritized work plan for the following year for Council’s review and ratification. In 2009, the
Recreation, Culture, and Parks Advisory Committee did not commence to meet until April,
thereby deferring the development of its 2009 Work Plan. On Wednesday, May 13, 2009, the
Committee unanimously endorsed the attached Work Plan for the remainder of 2009. Chair
Jamey Paterson was provided the support of the Committee to present the 2009 Work Plan to
Council on June 1, 2009. The highlights of the Work Plan are included in the report, and the
details of each item are included in Attachment A.

Advisory Committee.

The 2009 Work Plan is presented chronologically, providing an agenda outline for the year. The
Plan includes the following highlights:

In addition, the Work Plan describes a revised process for completing two annual Advisory
Committee responsibilities by agreeing to appoint 90 day Task Forces to fulfill the Langley
Awards and Langley Walk responsibilities each year. These tasks have been fulfilled for 2009.
Finally, the Work Plan identifies individuals from the Advisory Committee who have agreed to
serve as community liaisons in eleven (11) key functional areas of Recreation, Culture, and
Parks responsibility. The liaison roles will serve to ensure that there is communication
maintained between the Advisory Committee and our key stakeholders in the community.
