Sesi I/Session I Moderator: 09.00-10.00 Dr Haslina Haroon Prof. Munday - Methods in Descriptive Translation Studies: Mapping the Micro and Macro Level Discussing the key issue of models of analysis that are used to analyse translation shifts between source and target texts and how these may be related to the socio-cultural context in which translation operates. Minum pagi/ Tea break Assoc.Prof. Pchhacker - Issues in Consecutive Touching on the role of consecutive in training, on note-taking approaches and related research, and on innovative trends such as recorder-based consecutive using the SmartPen. Prof. Nord - Localizing Functionalism for a Global Audience This presentation takes the examples from the seminal book on functionalism, Grundlegung einer allgemeinen Translationstheorie, co-authored by Katharina Rei and Hans J. Vermeer, as a case in point. After a functional analysis of the examples as such, a classification according to their object of reference helps us lay the foundations for a comparison and discussion of the translation strategies and techniques applied in the translation of the book into English (Towards a General Theory of Translational Action, Manchester 2013, trans. Christiane Nord).
