YOUR NEW AVATAR POWER

Late in the aftemoon, Tommy's mother, Ursula, was searching desperately for her son, and so were the neighbors, Tommy's father, and the police and forest rangers, The dog had come horne, but Tommy was lost in the woods. The search spread far afield during the night but the little boy had vanished from sight, As the sun rose, Ursula, an ex-student of mine, thought of asking her pendulum where the boy was. Trembling and exhausted from her sleepless night, she relaxed as best she could and asked her pendulum: "Is Tommy still alive?" The pendulum swung into a confident "Yes." "Will he be found today?" "Yes." Encouraged, Ursula began to use the Alphabetic Semicircle. "Where is he?" She anxiously watched the pendulum as it swung over the diagram. Her heart gave a leap as it spelt out:
A-L-I-V-E A-N-D W-E-L-LI-N T-HE W-OO-DST-O TH-E NO-R-TH W-E-S-T "How far from here?" A-L-M-O-S-TF-I-V-E M-I-LES "Where should we search?" F-I-N-D S-M-A-L-L L-A-K-E F-O-L L-O-W L-I-T-T-L-E S-T-R-E-A-M E-A-S-T T-O W-H-I-T-E R-O-C-K C-A-L-L H-I-M H-E S-L-E-E-P-S U-N-D-E-R A T-R-E-E

The moment she could contact her husband, Ursula relayed the NAP-inspired pendulum message to him. He pored over a large scale map, and found a lake five miles into the woods to the north-west. Promptly, he informed the searching authorities that he was sure he knew where bis son was. The police were incredulous, but as their tracker dogs had lost the trail and the helicopters and planes had found nothing, they allowed Mr. W. to board a search helicopter. Quickly they flew to the lake that Mr. W. had found on the rnap. As they hovered over it, they could see a glint of water among the trees. A small strearn trickled into the lake from the east. A few hundred yards from the lake, a sandy beach was backed by a large white rock. The chopper swooped down and almost before the skids had touched the sand, Mr. W. had leaped down, calling for his son. "Here 1 am, Daddy," a small voice called. "1 was sleeping under a tree. I'm all right."
