AlthoughthemoreformalisedbodyofSocialTeaching
hasarelavelyshorthistoryinthelifeoftheChurch
only some 122 years!the origins of that Social
TeachinggoesbacktotheearlylifeoftheChurch,and
indeed even to the Scriptures themselves, both Old
and New Testaments. It is not, as is somemes
suggested,amodernistaddiontotheChrisanFaith
asunderstoodbytheChurch.
Wedo,however,needtobeclearaboutwhatweare
called to do in seeking social jusce. It is not simply
aboutensuringweundertakeactsofcharity,although
this is indeed part of it. Along with acts of charity
howeveristhecallforChrisans,bothindividuallyand
corporately, to idenfy and seek to remove those
thingsthatcreateinjusce.Theseactsofadvocacyare
as,ifnotmore,importantthantheactsofcharitythat
arenaturallyprovokedinanyreasonablehumanbeing
whenfacedwithinjusce.

The introducon of this new musical seng,
entled the Mass of St Francis, is going well, and
provides not only a second opon for our Parish
celebraons, but will make us familiar with the
seng that is oen used at Diocesan
celebraons.
The new seng will be introduced bit by bit over
the coming weeks, and I would ask for your
forbearance as we introduce this to our Parish
celebraons.

commencing at 6:30pm. The guest speaker will be
Steph Unger, a singer/songwriter and teacher from
Brisbane with a passion for engaging youth in their
