Reaching out to our Pacific Partners

October 3, 2013

In July our staff deployed Down Under to take part in Talisman Saber 2013, a joint multinational training exercise in Australia. This biennial exercise, designed to improve the combat readiness and interoperability between the Australian Defence Force and the US military was a tremendous success. The entire teams performance during TS 13 was outstanding. As a result Americas Corps is now joint task force certified and ready to support the US Army Pacific commanders Prevent-Shape-Win strategy. Army Chief of Staff, Gen. Ray Odierno has said removing sexual assault and harassment from our ranks is the Armys top priority. At JBLM, we have implemented a pilot program called the Sexual Harassment/Assault Response Program Resource Center. The facility houses full-time representatives from different agencies and serves as a one-stop shop for victims of sexual assault. Whatever their need, whether it is to meet with their victim advocate, to meet with a military lawyer or to find out the status of their case, the center is the place where victims can go to address their concerns.
