SIX PINTS PLEASE!

LOG LINE: a video guide to a few of Yorks favourite pubs CONCEPT: this film will showcase a sample of Yorks lesser-known tourist attractions - its pubs. It will take the viewer on a pub crawl through six of Yorks most unique and historical public houses, giving the viewer a taste of each pubs atmosphere, unique characteristics and local significance. LENGTH: 7 minutes AUDIENCE: this video is aimed at the college students who attend York St. John and more specifically, its international students. Although Yorks pubs are memorable, some students (for unspecified reasons) might have trouble remembering their time in these pubs. Six Pints Please! will add impact to the stories of hand-pulled ales & half-price specials, drinking contests & pub crawls these students take home to their family and friends. FORMAT: I. INTRODUCTION (20 seconds) - a brief voice-over introducing York with shots of a couple main TOURIST attractions (the Minster, the City Walls, the Shambles) then announcing this programs intention to highlight Yorks main STUDENT attraction - its pubs! II. MAIN TITLES (10 seconds) - the programs title & production credits backed by a fast-paced drinking song (ie. Spirit of the West - Home For A Rest) III. PUB PROFILES (approx. 60 seconds each) #1 - Cross Keys (Goodramgate) #2 - Old White Swan (Goodramgate) #3 - Lendal Cellars (Lendal) #4 - Punch Bowl (Stonegate) #5 - Hole In The Wall (Upper Petergate) #6 - Bay Horse (Gillygate) - each pubs segment will consist of three parts. The first one will be a daytime establishing shot of the pubs exterior with a voice-over announcing its name and location. Next, interior shots are seen as the voice-over details the pubs history and unique characteristics. Each pubs segment will conclude with sound bites taken from a selection of that days patrons, pub employees and if possible, management. IV. CONCLUSION (30 seconds) - this program will conclude with the narrator seen standing at the counter as a bartender pulls a Guinness. The narrator will give a concluding speech: York, England is famous for its tourist attractions. But it is just as famous among the students whove studied there for its pubs. According to legend, York has 365 pubs - one for each day of the year. Although this program is only a small taste of Yorks appeal, we invite you to visit York and sample the atmosphere <sips from the Guinness> yourself.
