Investigation Continues into Death of Local Cyclist

District Attorney Bob Lee announced today that the District Attorneys Office has not yet received the investigation report from the California Highway Patrol regarding the tragic death of Joshua Alper who was struck while cycling by a vehicle which crossed into the southbound lane of Highway 1 near Dimeo Lane on Saturday November 2, 2013. He emphasized that although his Office has not yet received the report, specialized prosecutors trained in vehicular manslaughter have been working carefully with the CHP to make sure the investigation is full and complete. District Attorney Lee further stated When a person loses his life our Office takes it extremely seriously and applies the appropriate resources along with the Law Enforcement Agency to make sure that no stone is left unturned and all the true facts are identified. Obviously, this is something we highly prioritize. Lee, who has personally been out to the scene, along with members of his Office added This is an extreme tragedy and his thoughts go out to the victims family and friends.
