The architecture developed in Shah jahans period influences not only Aurangzeb but all subsequent architectural enterprises Shah Jahans successors : not much of palatial architecture restricted to public works and religious buildings Studies on this period architecture limited, so not much material available

GARDENS
Evidences of gardens being constructed in Agra after the his ascent to power Most important one that of Mughal garden at Pinjaur, built in the scheme of a terraced Kashmir garden.

TOMBS
Beyond the tomb of Rabia Daurani none of the Mughals indulged in building tombs. Most of them were buried in open tombs in gardens or in the tomb complex of their patron saint or in the Humayuns tomb Most of the later period tombs were attributed to the nobles TOMB OF RABIA DAURANI AT AURANGABAD 1660-61 -Last monumental Mughal tomb -Smaller scale copy of the architecture of Taj Mahal -Not as successful in the compositional brilliance -Detailing of the marble screens around the tomb, brass door in the podium of the tomb, qalib kari in the vaults and the treatment of the walls can be considered exceptional
