Published by Fin Kennedy
This study contains the results of an expert consultation on ways to protect risk-taking on new work for the English stage, despite austerity.

Containing 36 innovative ideas, sourced from and voted on by theatre professionals, and arranged into rank order. It is a solution-focused follow-up to the original In Battalions study of 2013 which found theatres across England cancelling shows and cutting back on creative Research and Development as a result of Government cuts to the Arts Council.

The authors of the study, playwright Fin Kennedy and doctoral research student Helen Campbell Pickford, went back to the sector to try to generate some new ideas to protect risk-taking on new work and talent, in an attempt to find ways for English theatre to weather current economic conditions.
