EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY BAND ADMINISTRATOR POSITION

Shawanaga First Nation is seeking a highly motivated, professional and results based individual to fill the full-time, permanent position of Band Administrator. Under the direction of the Chief and Council, the Band Administrator is a key member of the Senior Management Team that manages and directs the overall administrative and financial affairs of Shawanaga First Nation. RESPONSIBILITIES: Liaison between Council and all staff employed by the First Nation; Oversees and directs the day-to-day operations of the First Nation; Provides regular written and verbal reports to Chief and Council to help keep Council up-todate on matters affecting the First Nation; Leads the development, implementation and monitoring of all policies and procedures as directed by the Shawanaga First Nation Chief and Council; Ensures that the First Nation submits all reports to funders in a timely manner; Ensures that a consolidated annual budget is developed, approved by Council, monitored and maintained as per Shawanaga First Nation policies and procedures; Attends monthly Business Council meetings, Regular Council meetings and any other meetings requested by Council; Supervises and oversees the activities of the First Nations Senior Management Team including ensuring that an annual team work plan is in place and that a supportive team environment is developed and maintained; Organizes the Shawanaga First Nation audit process; Communicates in an effective and professional manner with all community members, members of Council, Council Committees and Boards, funders and any other organizations; Ensures that Council directives, motions and Band Council Resolutions (BCRs) are acted upon and followed up on in a timely manner; Oversees the preparation of all Council meeting agendas and ensures that minutes are prepared and shared with the community. QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED: Diploma or Degree in Business or Public Administration or a related field with 3-5 years experience in a senior management position; Demonstrated financial management, administration, human resource, program delivery, project management and conflict resolution skills; Excellent communication skills, including the ability to network, build and foster positive relationships with Chief and Council, staff, community members, municipal, provincial and federal governments and industry proponents; Working knowledge of public sector accounting principles and accounting software such as Simply Accounting or Quick Books;

Relevant knowledge of federal and provincial legislation that affects First Nations; Excellent knowledge of First Nation reporting requirements; Demonstrated superior organizational and time management skills; Ability to work in situations that are subject to rapidly changing priorities and deadlines; Strong computer skills; Excellent analytical and problem solving skills; Sound knowledge of First Nation programs and services; Reliable and dependable, proven through past work experience; Must possess a valid Ontario drivers license and be insurable.
