An adverbs is a descriptive words that adds more information to a verb.

Adverbs of Manner These tell us how things are done Example : (i) How did she talk to the teacher? (ii) She talked to the teacher politely. More examples: carefully, carelessly, silently, loudly, gracefully, sweetly, soundly, happily, sadly, neatly, softly

b)

Adverbs of Time These tell us when something happens. Example : (i) When did he finish the essay? (ii) He finished the essay yesterday. More examples: every day, every afternoon, just now, last night, last week, tomorrow, next week, soon, later

c)

Adverbs of Frequency These tell us how often something happens. Example : (i) How often do you play basketball? (ii) I hardly play basketball. More examples: hourly, daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, yearly, never, seldom, sometimes, often, usually, always, twice

An adverb can be placed:


The children drank He pushed her He ran The boys thirstily.
