Race begins at 8am (rain or shine!) WHERE: Craner Park, North Mohawk Street, Cohoes, NY. Directions below. DETAILS: The Mastodon Challenge Races are 15K - 9.3 mile USATF Certified course Starts at 9AM The Mastodon 5K is a 3.1 mile course Starts at 9:15am Kids Fun Run 1, & mile races begin at 8am. NOTE: The media are invited to cover this signature event and share their firsthand coverage with their readers and viewers. Special parking and access passes are available upon request. About the Races: The Mastodon Challenge Races are in partnership with local businesses, schools, organizations and the City of Cohoes. These races will proudly give attention to the best of Cohoes to underline the history, recreation, culture and community atmosphere. Cohoes

Founders Day is sponsored by NH Kelman Scrap Recycling Company, and proceeds will go to Cohoes Multi-Service Senior Citizen Center. The Mastodon 5K proceeds will benefit the Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program in Cohoes. In just 2 years over $30,000 was divided between these two very important groups.

This years events will again be emceed by WNYT Channel 13 Weekend Anchor Kumi Tucker. Assemblyman John McDonald and Cohoes Mayor George Primeau will be assisting in awards presentations. Directions to the Event Depart from I-90 East / Rensselaer County Veterans Memorial Highway for 0.7 miles. Then take ramp right (0.3 miles), turn left onto US-4 / Troy Road (there will be a Fairfield Inn by the Marriott on the corner). Take ramp right for I-90 West / Rensselaer County Veterans Memorial Hwy (3.4 miles) until you reached exit 6A. Proceed to take ramp on right for I-787 North toward Troy for 6.0 miles. Keep straight onto RT-787 North for 1.9 miles. Then turn left onto RT470 / Ontario Street for 0.3 miles. Turn left onto Congress Street. You will arrive at North Mohawk Street, Cohoes, NY on the right (The last intersection is RT-470 / Ontario Street, if you reach White St, you've gone too far).
