Seminar report guidelines

Each student is required to write a comprehensive report about the seminar. The report should consist
of 40-50 pages describing the topic selected. The report should be in the format as described below.
It is important that you adhere to these guidelines.

1. ARRANGEMENT OF CONTENTS:
The sequence in which the seminar report material should be arranged and bound is as follows:

1) Cover Page & Title Page

2) Certificate

3) Abstract

4) Acknowledgment

5) List of figures

6) List of tables

7) Abbreviations

8) Contents

9) Chapters

10) Appendix

11) References

2. PAGE DIMENSION AND BINDING SPECIFICATIONS:
The dimension of the seminar report should be in A4 size. The seminar report should be spiral
bound using flexible cover of the thick art paper. Three copies of the report should be submitted.
3 TYPING INSTRUCTIONS:
One and a half line spacing should be used for typing the general text. The general text shall be
justified and typed in the Font style Times New Roman and Font size 12.
Chapter No & Chapter name shall be typed in the Font style Times New Roman and Font size
16 and bold in capital letters.
Heading shall be typed in the Font style Times New Roman and Font size 14 and bold.
Subheading shall be typed in the Font style Times New Roman and Font size 12 and bold.
4. PREPARATION FORMAT:
Cover Page & Title Page A specimen copy of the Cover page & Title page of the seminar report
are given in the Appendix.
Abstract Abstract should be one page synopsis, it should summarize the aims, conclusions and
implications of the topic of your seminar, typed with double line spacing, Font Style Times New
Roman and Font Size 12.
Contents The table of contents should list all material following it as well as any material, which
precedes it. The page numbers of which are in lower case Roman letters. One and a half spacing
should be adopted for typing the matter under this head. A specimen copy of the Table of Contents of
the seminar report is given in Appendix.
Chapters The chapters may be broadly divided into 3 parts (i) Introductory chapter i.e. developing
the main theme of the topic (ii) Literature review of the topic selected (iii) and Summary or
Conclusions.
Each chapter may be further divided into several divisions and sub-divisions.
_ Each chapter should be given an appropriate title.
_ Tables and figures in a chapter should be placed in the immediate vicinity of the reference where
they are cited.
- Figure captions should be placed below the Fig.
-Table captions should be placed above the Table
Appendix
- Appendices should be numbered using Arabic numerals, e.g. Appendix1, Appendix 2, etc.
List of References
The listing of references should be typed 2 spaces below the heading REFERENCES in the order
they appear in the text in single spacing left justified.
- Should be numbered consecutively (in square [] brackets, throughout the text and should be
collected together in the reference list at the end of your report. The references should be numbered
in the order they are used in the text.
