DESCRIPTION

This amazing art is inspired by the local place in the Philippines, Tacloban. This piece is
made up of Bamboo Twigs, Pandan, Coconut Stick, Spathe and Guinit. Each materials
used have its own meaning:
Bamboo symbolizes no matter how tall you stand, you need to bend and reach-out to
those in need.
Pandan locally used to make Banig, represents people uniting having camaraderie
(bayanihan) despite of the circumstances they have experienced.
Coconut Stick symbolizes the undying hope of the people in Tacloban.
Spathe represents aspects of humanity and attests to the triumphs of the individual
and the clan.
Guinit (Butterfly) signifies the dreams of the Tacloban people.

Therefore, this piece symbolizes the people striving hard to regain back their lives.
