Beautiful windows and doors

that help protect what’s outside them.
We care about the view, too.
After all, what’s the point of a window when there’s
nothing outside worth looking at? That’s why at
Marvin, the same commitment to the environment we
made decades ago lives on in everything we do, from
the products themselves, to the way we make them.

Marvin was one of the first window and door

companies to offer low-emission coatings on its entire
product line. Now, our tradition of industry-leading
standards continues with features like energy-saving
dual-pane insulating glass on all our products, many
of which are available with U-factors as low as .25.
Marvin, Integrity and Infinity brand windows all
employ Low E II glazing with Argon gas, meeting
ENERGY STAR guidelines for all climate zones and
exceeding NRFC requirements.
Designing Green
Good design often comes down to the little things. Little things that can make a big difference for the environment. Like
choosing glues and silicone that contain less than 6 percent VOCs by weight. Or improved finger-jointing and edge-
gluing processes that increase the amount of wood utilized.

These sorts of design considerations mean Marvin products like the windows and doors shown here achieve the highest
standards of both beauty and environmental friendliness. Which allows us to help our customers design sustainable,
energy-efficient structures that can meet LEED, NAHB standard and other green program requirements.
What’s inside shapes what’s outside.
Marvin uses wood from suppliers who subscribe
to the Sustainable Forestry Initiative. With one of
the lowest wood-waste percentages in the industry
coupled with innovative waste-reuse strategies, that
wood goes a long way. And glass batches containing
between 15 and 33 percent crushed scrap glass and
long-lasting extruded aluminum consisting of up to
40 percent reclaimed content mean less raw material
extracted from the earth.

The right materials meet the right manufacturing

processes in products like Ultrex by Integrity from
Marvin. This tough, enduring exterior material
is a pultruded fiberglass that is 500 times less
heat conductive than aluminum, reducing energy
consumption. What’s more, Ultrex is made with 10
percent recycled material and requires 39 percent
less energy to produce than vinyl. And Ultrex is
totally inert – it won’t degrade and emit harmful gas,
pigments and dyes the way vinyl does.
Renewing Our Resources
At Marvin, we’re constantly looking for ways we can maximize the resources we have and reduce what ends up as
waste. Each year we put 8,500 tons of packaging and logging waste to good use powering our boiler and heating
our plant. We sell 14,000 tons of wood shavings for animal bedding. Even old truck tires get second lives as remolded
rubber and asphalt additives. We recycle 800 tons of aluminum, 300 tons of cardboard, 100 tons of plastic and 90
tons of paper yearly. Our carbon absorption process enables us to recycle thousands of gallons of solvent annually.
We’ve even reworked our plumbing system to save 600 gallons of water every single day. All told, Marvin recycles over
24,000 tons of material annually.
As a northern Minnesota company, a look out our own back door
shows us just how important earth-friendly design and
sustainable manufacturing really are.

Marvin is dedicated to producing enduring, energy-efficient products

in ways that will ensure a greener future. We invite you to discover the
