might really enjoy these books! They are really funny. If you have a student that doesnt
really enjoy reading, I strongly recommend these. A series is a great way to get them
hooked on reading! Girls who love to laugh may also enjoy them.

Dear Parents and Students,

We are so excited to have you in third grade next year! We just couldnt wait to get you
started on all of the WONDERFUL things you will learn. To keep up all of the hard work you have
done this year, and will do next year the third grade teachers put together a book list to keep
your brain active over the summer. You/Your child must:
1. Read at least 3 books from the list
2. Fill out the reading log
3. Pick 2 books to answer the reflection questions on
4. Pick one book to complete a project on: There are directions for each project included in
the packet. If you need any more directions and/or templates you can visit this website
(click on the 3
rd
grade projects):

**Remember to use complete sentences and appropriate punctuation such as capital letters and
periods. Also, make sure the book is appropriate for your childs reading level, and that they
have not read the book before. We want to introduce them to new, exciting literature.

If you/ your child completes all of these items and turn them in Tuesday, August 19
th
(the
second day of school) you will receive an extra 100 in Reading and will get a ticket to
participate in our SPECIAL CELEBRATION! We hope you have an amazing summer and cannot
wait to see what all you learn this summer.
