The IPA Chautauqua Sessions and Leadership

At the 184

Annual Convention we will have Chautauqua sessions presented by IPA Members.
Chautauqua Assemblies began in the late 19
th
Century, with lectures by authors, scientists,
artists, politicians, poets and entertainers. Traveling Chautauquas with tent shows moved from
town to town in circuits during the summer. Famous Lyceum speakers from the Civil War to
World War I were Mark Twain, Theodore Roosevelt, William Jennings Bryan, Franklin D.
Roosevelt, and poet Carl Sandburg.

Speakers for the 3:15 PM to 4:15 PM Chautauqua Sessions

Cynthia Lett, considered among the elite professional of etiquette and protocol
experts, she is respected worldwide for her accessible manner and in-depth
knowledge of American and International Etiquette and Protocol. Ms. Lett is one
of the few Certified Protocol Professionals (CPP) and Certified Etiquette
Professionals (CEP) in the world. She is the author of: Modern Civility:
Etiquette of Dealing with Annoying, Angry and Difficult People.


Arnold Sanow MBA, CSP will share real life tips, tools and solutions to start,
build and grow your own part or full time speaking and training business. He has
coached hundreds of speakers from those just starting to seasoned pros. Arnold
has delivered over 2,500 paid presentations and is the author of six books
including: Present with Power, Punch and Pizzazz!


IPA 2014-15 Leadership

Jan Du Plain is Embassy Liaison for IPA, and fills the same position at the Ronald Reagan
Building & International Trade Center and Cultural Tourism D.C.
Ms. Du Plain was Director of Public Relations at WETA TV and Radio, Washington, DC,
1983- 1995. She led Washington, DC publicity for the world premiere of documentary
filmmaker Ken Burns multiple award-winning TV series, The Civil War.

Alan Schlaifer, Executive Director, International Platform Association, is an attorney in a
business and general practice. Alan is an award-winning nonprofit executive with over 25
years of experience as an officer and board member, who has published nearly 300 articles.
He is a graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and
Harvard Law School.


Mitchell P. Davis, CEO & Director General of the IPA, created the Yearbook of Experts,
Authorities & Spokespersons and the expert website ExpertClick.com that has helped the
news media find experts for interviews since 1984. His printed directories of experts and
speakers are released to the news media and speaker bureaus.
The New York Times referred to his service as Dial-an-Expert.
