Sights-
Berlin Wall Built on August
13, 1961 the Berlin Wall was
built to separate East and
West Germany. During times
of war there were certain
points at which you could
cross over between the two
sides, all of these points in
the wall were heavily guarded
by guards. The wall was
destroyed on November 9,
1989, to this day some of the
wall is still standing and has
been used a public art piece
with famous graffiti from the
top to bottom.

Brandenburg Gate The Branden-
burg Gate, finished being built on
August 6, 1788. Designed by Carl
Gotthard Langhans, and Johann
Gottfried Schadoww it was built
after the successful restoration of
order during the Batavian Revolu-
tion. In 1987, U.S. President
Ronald Reagan gave a speech in
front of the Brandenburg Gate.
Many refer to this speech as the
Tear Down this wall! speech.
Reagan ordered Soviet leader Mi-
khail Gorbachev to open the barrier
that had been dividing East and
West Berlin since 1961. On top of
the gates is a large statue known
as the Quadriga which shows the
goddess of victory on a chariot
pulled by four horses.
Tourist Activities -
Local Restaurants and Pubs Ger-
many has a rich history and that
doesn't just stop at the beautiful
historical sites, if you want the real
German experience you might have
to look a little closer. Many restau-
rants and pubs have been there
just as long as the famous sites.
Garkueche auf dem Kranchen is
the oldest restaurant in Germany
and was created in 1146 AD.
Shopping There are thousands of
shops in Germany and they all vary
in price. You can see many of these
stores in the Mall of Berlin which
was created in 2014 and offers all
varieties of shopping and a food
court on the top floor with many
different types of food. A more
upscale shopping experience can
be found at the Galeries Lafayette
which is well known for its crystal
jewelry and watches.
