Rep. Mike Dovilla Lauds Adoption of Noise Mitigation Resolution
Turnpike Takes Action to Address Long-Standing Community Concern

BEREAState Representative Mike Dovilla (R-Berea) today announced the adoption of a
resolution by the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission, expressing its support for
the newly formed Turnpike Mitigation Program. The initiative, championed by Rep.
Dovilla, was included in House Bill 51, the biennial transportation budget to, assist
political subdivisions through which a portion of the Ohio Turnpike passes and address
concerns resulting from the proximity of the Ohio Turnpike. Projects eligible for funding
include noise barriers, which have been needed in impacted communities since the
Turnpikes third lane expansion over a decade ago.

I am pleased to learn that noise mitigation projects in North Royalton, Olmsted Falls,
Olmsted Township, and Strongsville were identified for further investigation prior to
advancement in the selection process, said Dovilla. We will continue to press for action
that will resolve this long-standing community concern that impacts our residents quality
of life and property values.

The Turnpike Mitigation Program is a direct result of language Rep. Dovilla and other
northern Ohio legislators included in the transportation budget bill this past spring to
authorize funding for such projects. The program will provide counties, municipalities, and
townships impacted by the Turnpike the opportunity to apply for project support from a
pool of $5 million in federal and state funds, which will be offered going forward on an
annual basis. Projects not selected for the initial year of construction will be eligible for
submission in successive funding cycles.
