Rep. Dovilla Participates in Canada-U.S. Energy Summit Forum Designed to Promote Jobs for Northeast Ohios Economy
INDEPENDENCEState Representative Mike Dovilla (R-Berea) today announced his participation in Fueling the Buckeye Economy, a Canada-U.S. energy summit. The event brought together representatives from Canadian energy companies, Ohio manufacturers, and representatives of the Ohio and Canadian governments for a comprehensive discussion on growth opportunities in an already strong economic alliance with the Buckeye States northern neighbor. I am pleased Northeast Ohio was selected to host this important jobs forum. It is critical that we support Greater Cleveland manufacturers expansion of exports to Canada, said Dovilla. Canada is already one of the top export destinations for our region, as well as our state, supporting over 301,000 Ohio jobs. By continuing to advance a strong partnership with the Canadian government and its growing private sector companies in the energy sector, we can provide more good paying jobs for Ohioans. With over $12 billion in active projects, and $55 billion spent in 2012, Albertas oil sands region is one of the largest economic development opportunities in the world. At the Canada-U.S. Energy Summit and Ohio Supplier Matchmaking Forum, participants had the opportunity to learn more about the important Canada-Ohio energy relationship. A strong advocate for robust U.S.-Canada relations, Representative Dovilla serves on the Midwest-Canada Relations Committee of the Council of State Governments (CSG). -30-
