    Rep. Mike Dovilla Testifies on Open Ohio


    Legislation Creates State Government Expenditure Database for Public COLUMBUSState Representative Mike Dovilla (R-Berea) provided sponsor testimony before the State and Local Government Committee on House Bill 175, Open Ohio. H.B. 175 provides for a state government expenditure database showing taxpayers exactly where their money is being spent. Ohio taxpayers deserve to know what their money is being spent on and where their money is being spent to provide greater citizen oversight of government, said Dovilla. I am thankful for the strong bipartisan support this bill has already received. Open Ohio will be a searchable, freely accessible database for all Ohioans to utilize. This new system will display the expenditure information of state agencies, including the amount and date of the expenditure, the person to whom the expenditure was paid, and the state entity that made or requested the expenditure. House Bill 175 will remain before the State and Local Government Committee for further hearings. -30-
