Design and Fabricaton of Mult-purpose Temporary Boom Rest

Objectives
Design and fabricate a temporary boom rest for the Total Abu
Al Bukhoosh Field
Produce a modular design to reduce weight of individual
components for downgraded crane situations
Produce a boom rest which could be used for multiple
installations through variable rest height and orientation

Results:
The boom rest was designed using CAD and was proven
through the use of Finite Element Analysis prior to fabrication
After fabrication, the unit met the weight specifications as
predicted in the design phase
Through the implementation of spacer components the rest
can be set at a height to suit many applications

Value to Client:
The boom rest will simplify all future luffing crane maintenance
and refurbishment projects performed at the Abu Al Bukhoosh
