Helen Dixon, Headteacher at Christs School, said:

I can confirm that a fire broke out last night (17 June) on the roof of the new
building at Christs School. The authorities were alerted to the fire by residents in the
area and the damage was contained to only the roof.

I can confirm that no one was injured in the fire and the Fire Brigade have secured
the whole site swiftly. We have been given the all clear to open the school today
and no lessons or student activity will be impacted by the incident. We are now
working closely with the experts to identify the cause of the fire.
