The Tortoise had been working out.

His muscles were bulging and his thighs looked huge from hours on
the treadmill. The Hare looked up from its radish, as the Tortoise came up to him, flexing his biceps.
Hey Hare, you wanna race?
Hare raised his eyebrows. Yea he could use a little exercise, but why would tortoise, the slowest guy he
had ever known, want to race with him?
Sure! Till the coconut tree by the beach? He said anyway.
They took off and Hare raced away at full speed and almost reached the finish line. He stopped and
looked back at Tortoise. He had hardly moved from the starting line!!
Hare didnt feel like crossing the finish line. He walked around in circles scratching her long ears.
He looked up at eagle flying in the sky. He realized that no matter how fast he ran he could never fly like
eagle.
He looked at ant talking busily with his mates and then set off at full speed towards its ant-hill home. He
was fascinated - it seemed like a mission of the utmost urgency! He crouched on her knees to observe
ant better.
Ant had reached the ant-hill and was gathering his mates. Then they all set off towards a leaf and ant
gave instructions so that in a matter of seconds they had all gathered under leaf and lifted it off the
ground. Then leaf started moving at a quick pace with all the ants marching in step.
They reached a little little stream and they hurled the leaf into the stream. The leaf floated in the stream
and hare saw that it had reached a little ant floating in the stream. The ant climbed onto the leaf which
soon floated on to the bank. The ant climbed onto the bank and all his mates came running up to him
and hugged him and laughed.
Hare rolled onto his back and looked up at the sky laughing. He felt as happy as the ants. He realized
that the ant must be actually faster than him in its own little world. How quickly they had managed
everything, how well they worked as a team! He wished he could learn to work with other hares that
way!
He looked up at coconut tree. She never moved, but she helped everyone with so many things,
especially those lovely coconuts. He felt like having coconut water.
Hare saw tortoise going by. Tortoise was totally focused on the finish line and never noticed hare. He
huffed and puffed and crossed the line and looked up tired. Hare ran up behind him and said Congrats
friend seems you have won!
Tortoise shrugged his shoulders, Whats the big deal about speed anyway hare. I just realized Id rather
lie in the sand and philosophize!
Hare said, Right you are my mate! No big deal at all!
The hare put his hands around tortoise and they both went off to the beach for a drink.
