Youth Camp for Asias Future 2014

Project Description

[Objective]
a. To provide opportunities to enhance understanding and future-oriented mutual
corporation through interaction by inviting youths who will lead the future of Asia.
b. To train next-generation global leaders who will lead common prosperity and
development of Asia.

[Project Outline]
a. Project Name: Youth Camp for Asias Future 2014
b. Slogan: Asian Youths! Start a New Innovative Era
c. Period: 7 ~ 19 Aug (12 nights 13 days)
d. Venue: Seoul (Sangam Stanford Hotel / International Youth Center)
Jeonju (National Youth Agriculture and Life Center)
Jeju Island (Wonder Resort)
e. Participants: 216 persons from 24 countries
f. Host: Ministry of Gender Equality and Family (MOGEF)
g. Organizer: The National Council of Youth Organizations in Korea (NCYOK)
h. Sponsors: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA)

a. Welcome Ceremony
b. Special Lectures (Theme: The world falls into Korean Wave)
c. Closing Ceremony and Farewell dinner
d. Korean Wave Conference
e. Team Activities
- Objective: to break down barriers of ideologies, religions, and cultures, cultivate
mutual trust and cooperative spirit, inspire Asian community spirit and promote
friendship among Korean youths through various teambuilding activities.
- Content
K-Pop summer concert: Festival will be held to have participants from about 20
different countries express freedom and imagination based on K-Pop, the
medium of Korean wave. Mutual understanding and friendship will be enhanced
throughout the ten days of preparation.
Ice Breaking: Mutual trust and community spirit will be fostered through
teamwork (physical activities).
f. Cultural exchange activities
- Objective: to encourage pride in Asian culture through cultural exchange, and
mutual understanding and trust among Korean and Asian youths and to cultivate
community spirit through interaction
- Content
Asian Traditional Food Festival: Friendship and understanding of cultural
diversity will be enhanced from cooking and sharing food from the participating
countries
Asian Youths' Cultural Exchange International Night: Passion of youths will be
released and friendship will be promoted.
g. Korean Wave Road Trip
- Objective: to improve the national brand by spreading Korean wave in Asia through
various activities
- Content
Seoul (Center of Korean Wave)
Theme: Center of Korean Wave! K-pop summer concert
Content: Participants will form a group to create and prepare various
performances such as choreography, martial arts, or singing based on K-pop,
and perform in Seoul, the center of Korean wave.
Jeonju (UNESCO City of Gastronomy)
Theme: Taste and Grace of Korean tradition
Content: Participants will learn traditional and modern culture by
experiencing Koreas taste and grace; mutual understanding and friendliness
among Koreans and participants will be enhanced through Asian dessert
festival.
Jeju Island (UNESCO The World Natural Heritage)
Theme: Jeju, recognized by the whole world / The New 7 Wonders of Nature
Content: Participants will feel the beauty of Korean nature which has been
recognized by the world and be encouraged to work as honorary
ambassadors of Korea when returning to their own countries from visiting
Koreas tourist attractions.
Visiting traditional markets of each location and team activities
Theme: The best K-Food in my life
Content: Participants will be given a chance to visit traditional markets with
locally distinct characteristics, enjoy local history, culture and specialties,
and experience Korean food through team activities related to K-Food.

[Selection of participants]
a. Korean participants: 40 persons
- NCYOK selects participants via public notice
b. Asian participants: 161 persons (7 persons each from 23 participating countries)
- who are undergraduate/graduate students or working youths between the ages of 18
and 24.
- who can speak English and are interested in International (Asian) relationships and
Korean history, wave, etc.
- Priority goes to those who have got reference letters from principals of educational
institutions, professors in charge or heads at work.
- Way of selection
The Korean embassies and NCYOKs overseas affiliation will be asked to select
7 persons from each country.
Recruitment and selection will be done based on selection criteria through
Korean embassies or overseas affiliation in each country.
- Recruitment period: 7 July, 2014
Participants from following countries will be selected by Korean embassies:
Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Myanmar, Brunei, India, Sri
Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan,
Turkmenistan, Mongolia
* Participants from China, Japan, Philippines and Singapore will be selected via NCYOKs
overseas affiliation

[Expenses bearing rules]
- 14 Countries that will be provided round-trip flight tickets by the host country:
Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Myanmar, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan,
Afghanistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Mongolia
Participants from China, J apan, Singapore, Philippines, Brunei, Kazakhstan,
Malaysia, Turkmenistan, and Thailand should pay for round-trip flight ticket at their
own expenses
- Accommodation, meal, transportation, etc. during the program in Korea will be
provided by the host country.

[General information]
a. Flight ticket, entry and departure
- Flight schedule will be fixed and informed in June
- After collecting a list of fixed participants, e-tickets will be sent via email in early
July to an individual participant and Korean embassy
- NCYOK will provide pick-up/drop-off service at the airport
* Flight Schedule and booking lists cant be changed due to peak summer season;
therefore please make sure participation when recommending participants.
b. Accommodation, meal and transportation
- Accommodation: Location, contact and convenience facilities will be informed Later
c. Transportation
- Meal: Buffet offered
- A chartered bus will be provided (40 passengers)
* Transportation expenses out of official schedule are the responsibility of
participants
d. Overseas travel insurance
- It is required to get overseas travel insurance in case of emergency
e. Things to prepare for an individual participant
- Passport and Korean visa, traditional clothing or formal suit, casual clothes,
sneakers, umbrella, toiletries, pen, personal medicine, etc.
f. Online communication
