Do you know what a bomb is?
The B on the end is silent, like in lamb and dumb.
The B on the end is like a bomb, you never hear it come.
Some bombs are small, and some are large, most are inbetween
!lmost all are ke"t in a "lace that # know you$ve never been.
Bombs are dangerous, you see, so we have to hide them well
!nd be care%ul, they are %ragile too, so we kee" them each in a shell.
What are they %or you$re wondering? Why make and hide these bombs?
&et$s %ind out what they do together, bring your %riends and come along'
Some bombs are built %or %alling, air "lanes take them into the sky'
They tumble through the air and hit the ground, where "eo"le die.
Some bombs are built to be buried, these ones(we call them mines
They sit underground )ust waiting, here$s their warning sign.
Some bombs are built at home by very dangerous men
then blown u" suddenly to kill %ive or eight or ten
Some bombs are built on the end o% a rocket that goes into s"ace'
They can sit in your home and be launched away to kill those in another "lace.
*ow that you see what bombs are %or # want to make it clear
they don$t )ust kill a%ter all, they do other things too, my dear.
+ines, the ones that hide in the ,arth are mostly built to maim
That means cho" o%% your legs or tear o%% your arm so you$ll never "lay again.
Some bombs use %ire to burn through a town and leave it as a waste
!nd those "eo"le living there have to leave and live in another "lace.
Some bombs are so loud they can sto" your heart, you$ll go to slee" %orever
!nd some are built with chemicals, they$re so mean we don$t use them. *,-,..
*uclear bombs are also banned, they$re so bright they$ll make you go blind
They ruin whole towns, make everyone sick, and leave only your shadow behind.
But why, you ask, do they e/ist? Who wants them to stick around?
Who on ,arth wants to live in a world where mines are in the ground?
Some "eo"le will talk about bad "eo"le, or "rotecting yoursel% %rom harm
But #$m sure you can see there is one bad thing here, it$s the bombs that should cause alarm.
Because mines don$t know bad "eo"le %rom cows and children "laying
!nd rockets can$t hel" with your homework or the bills that need "aying.
So let$s %orget about the silly idea that bombs are good to have around
,n)oy your legs, your arms, your %amily, and you li%e in a bomb%ree town.
