Mayoral candidate, Glen Chernen anounces: For Immediate Release

Who made Aquatic Centre relocation high priority?

International and local developers?

The City of Vancouver Real Estate department is in the process of marketing/selling the North
end Granville Bridge off-ramp. It is critical infrastructure, it is city owned land and it should not be
for sale. City of Vancouver plans state that they would like the see an Aquatic Centre on the new
development site.

On page 2 of the City of Vancouver, Off-ramp sale offering, it states

the following items represent specific public amenities the city has identified as high
priority.any of which could be enabled through the development of this property

It goes on to say in point 2 of the same page that construction of a new Aquatic Centre on the
site is one of the high priorities.

It is time for reporters to ask whose high priority it is, in light of the fact that nobody at Park
Board will admit any knowledge and neither will Geoff Meggs. What the hell is going on ?

If reporting is correct , Bill Aujla, the City of Vancouver general manager of real estate
and facilities management, as quoted by Emily Jackson of The Metro,

The city decided to sell the surplus land because it was getting unsolicited offers for the
property from international and local developers, Aujla said.

Were looking at a hot market at that site in particular, he said, noting the high
development in the area. (Its neighbours include the prestigious twisted Vancouver
House tower, which stirred controversy by marketing to rich buyers in Asia before sales
opened locally.)

Were trying to get as many competitors to make a bid on the property, weve been doing
everything to make it public, he said.

We are now being told that elected councillors and park commissioners, Geoff Meggs, Aaron
Jaspar, John Coupar, and George Affleck were not notified. Who are we to believe? The total
absence of public consultation, inconsistencies in actions and responses from the city, and
dubiousness of this plan raises serious concerns/questions.

HOW CAN HONEST PUBLIC CONSULTATION OCCUR AFTER THE PROPERTY
IS SOLD?
Who decided the relocation of the Aquatic Centre was a HIGH PRIORITY as stated in
the sales offering?
Which developers made the initial inquiries to purchase this land?

Mayoral candidate, Glen Chernen anounces: For Immediate Release

Who made Aquatic Centre relocation high priority?
When did these developers make their unsolicited bid?
Did the developers make the suggestion for the Aquatic Centre to move ?
Who decided the demolition of the Aquatic Centre was the preferred way to proceed?
Who was consulted?
Who gave the order to sell the off-ramp?
Was the Mayor involved?
Was the Chief of Staff involved?
Was the City Manager involved?
Is the City Manager, Deputy City Manager, Chief of Staff, or Mayor going to make a
comment?
What is the plan? Who is creating the plan?
How can the Real Estate Department say they are doing all they can to raise awareness
when there has been no awareness up until I made comments on Twitter and wrote a
press release on the issue. Two members of the Park Board have stated they have no
knowledge so that tells you that not very much consulting has been done.
Has the City of Vancouver made the 130 page sales package public yet?
Did the City of Vancouver ever plan on making this public?

These are my latest observations on this issue. Please contact me through the following
ways if you have any questions or comments. Also contact the mayor and possibly the
police.

Secret plans like this are the justification behind the Cedar Party wanting increased fraud and
white collar crime enforcement at City Hall and in the City of Vancouver in general. The Cedar
Party would like to see a dedicated law enforcement department that specifically focuses on City
Hall. We believe that increased fraud enforcement would increase revenue to the City of
Vancouver and cover the enforcement costs by 10 - 20 times. More details are available in the following
