Those who say that provision was a
drafting error...
... provision was written to limit subsidies to
state-run exchanges
PARTISAN SPLIT ON WHETHER PROVISION LIMITING
SUBSIDIES TO STATE-RUN EXCHANGES WAS AN ERROR,
MOST RESPONDED DONT KNOW/NO OPINION.
The 2010 health care law includes a provision that says that federal subsidies to those purchasing health
insurance will be available to those buying insurance on state-run exchanges. Some say that provision is
a drafting error that was written to offer subsidies to state-run and federal exchanges, and that at the time
of its writing, it was assumed states would be running their own exchanges. Others say the provision of
the law was written to limit subsidies to the state-run exchanges, and that the Obama administration
should be required to follow the letter of the law. Who do you agree with more?
